Our Story

Ghana’s plastic waste issue is reaching a critical point.

Every year, we produce 1.1 million tons of plastics, but a mere 5% gets recycled. The rest? They find their way into landfills, gutters, and distressingly, our water systems.

At Ishara, we’re driven by a mission: enhance plastic waste collection to support startups needing this material, and create safer, dignified opportunities for waste pickers, particularly women, who rely on it for their livelihood.

Our ultimate aim? To prevent plastic waste from entering regular bins. Instead, we’re pushing for cleaner, well-sorted collections, all streamlined by tech innovations.
